Windows 10 Users Microsoft Hates You

Yeah, it’s a rage bait title. Sorry. But they clearly do what with the end of life of their more popular than 11 operating system and the vehement push with full screen popups and the like. So what’s a Win 10 user to do?

The best option I might argue is to go to Linux. Linux is open source written by communities, and with code that can reviewed by all, which helps keep the corporations that are often involved honest.

For a Win 10 user might I recommend Fedora 41 KDE. https://fedoraproject.org/spins/kde

KDE keeps a very windows-like user interface that most windows users should be familiar enough with to find their way around while easing into the Linux way of doing things.

Alternatively the tried and true Ubuntu is also a good option if you’re a windows user who actually wants something a bit different. Online support is excellent and lately they’ve been getting things updated to have the best possible hardware support. https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

At this point you’re probably thinking did you really rage bait me here to preach to me about our lord and savior Linux? No, actually, I wanted to dispense some information about how to keep Windows 10 up and running and safe for the foreseeable future.

Microsoft is currently going to end support in October 2025. You can buy one more year for $30. Do you really want to pay the company that’s decided to leave you high and dry?

Enter 0patch. https://0patch.com/

For 24.95 EUR +tax per year you can continue to receive Windows 10 security patches. Here’s the blog post about it. https://blog.0patch.com/2024/06/long-live-windows-10-with-0patch.html

0patch has been around for a long time now and they’ve been releasing both free Windows security patches (often before Microsoft can get them out) and they’ve been supporting other end of life Microsoft OS’s so they know what they’re doing.

As usual don’t trust a random internet stranger. Do your own research to vet 0patch but based on my experience and knowledge they look like a great way to keep your Win 10 machine alive and safe despite Microsoft.
